Monica Diaz, MD, is a neurologist and a post-doctoral fellow at University of California, San Diego who specializes in neurological complications of HIV and neuroimmunology. She will begin an assistant professor position at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in January 2021. She received her MD from State University of New York - Downstate College of Medicine, completed neurology residency at Yale University, then subsequently two fellowships (neuroHIV and neuroimmunology at UCSD and global health through NIH Fogarty). Dr. Diaz’s current research investigates the prevalence and risk factors for HIV-associated neurocognitive impairment in Peru and among Latinos living in the U.S.
