Michelangelo Cao, MD, PhD

Michelangelo Cao graduated cum laude in Medicine and Surgery in 2009 and specialised in Neurology in 2015 at the University of Padua. Since 2007, he has been involved in clinical and translational research on FSHD, myasthenia gravis and mitochondrial myopathies. He investigated genotype-phenotype correlations and pathogenic mechanisms of FSHD, characterising its epidemiology and molecular mechanisms. In 2016, he was awarded a Clinical Research Fellowship by the European Academy of Neurology to develop a project at the University of Oxford regarding new therapeutic targets for MuSK myasthenia. He is currently attending a DPhil in Clinical Neurosciences at University of Oxford.
