Jun Li, MD, PhD (Chair)

Dr. Jun Li has been a Tenured Professor, Chairman of Neurology and Scientific Director of the Translational Neuroscience Initiative with Wayne State University since March of 2018. Prior to this appointment, he served a 9-year tenure in the Department of Neurology at Vanderbilt University.
Dr. Li specializes in peripheral nerve diseases and myelin biology. As a physician scientist, he was a recipient of NIH K08 award in 2004. His laboratory is currently funded by the NIH, Department of Veterans Affairs and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. With this support, his laboratory has produced a total of 83 articles in peer-reviewed journals where he served as the first or last author on 54 of these articles. He has been invited to give numerous talks nationally and internationally. In 2014, he received the Wolfe Research Prize from the American Neurological Association (ANA).
In addition to his current Chair position, Dr. Li has served in multiple leadership roles, including being a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Scientific Advisory Board of the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association, the Peripheral Nerve Society Scientific Committee, and the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties.
