John Bodensteiner, MD

John Bodensteiner is a graduate of Luther College (BA, 66) and the University of Iowa (MD, 71). Internship and Pediatric residency at LACUSCMC (Los Angeles Children’s Hospital), Neurology and Pediatric Neurology at the University of Iowa and a Clinical Neuromuscular Disease Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic. Faculty positions have included UTMB, University of Oklahoma, West Virginia University, Indiana University, the William Pilcher Chair of Pediatric Neurology at the Children’s Health Center & Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix. Currently he is retired but most recently was a Consultant at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Dr. Bodensteiner has been active in the politics of Child Neurology in the US having served as President of the Child Neurology Society, (2006-2007), the Professors of Child Neurology (President 1995-6), Southern Pediatric Neurology Society (President 1988-90, 1998-2000), and a Director of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (2014-). Dr. Bodensteiner has contributed more than 450 papers, abstracts chapters reviews and commentaries to the literature covering a variety of subjects related to clinical aspects of Pediatric Neurology. He serves on the editorial board of several journals, as Senior Associate Editor of the Journal of Child Neurology and the Founding Editor of Seminars in Pediatric Neurology.
