After obtaining a certified as a specialist of neurology in Japan, he had majored in the molecular biology of familial amyloidotic polyneuropathy in graduate school, Kyushu university, Japan. After three years of research on drug metabolizing genes at the National Institute of Health (NIH) in the U.S., he returned to Japan to conduct clinical research as a neurologist, and he is currently working as a general neurologist in the Kochi prefecture, Shikoku island/Japan to treat patients and train future generations as a neurologist. He is also a council member of the Japanese Society of Neurology.
