Within the last year there has been an (re)emergence of Powassan encephalitis, Eastern equine encephalitis, measles, dengue and there is likely going to be an epidemic of acute flaccid myelitis due to an enterovirus which is expected to peak in October 2020. Hence it is critical that neurologists be informed of these diseases and know how to properly diagnose and treat them. Also, it is critical for them to know what specimens to collect and how to access help from state and federal health agencies. This session will feature leaders in the field and in the frontline who can provide the latest information, share personal experiences and engage the audience in a discussion. They also have developed novel assays in their own laboratory that they can share with the audience.

  • To learn the epidemiology, clinical presentation, latest diagnostic techniques and management of emerging CNS infections.
